Stillness as medicine
A Yin Yoga Teacher Training in somatic and trauma-informed practice.
March–April 2026 · Bija Yoga · Led by Deb Shaw
A 50-hour immersive training for those who want to teach Yin Yoga from presence, not performance — blending anatomy, seasonal wisdom, and embodied meditation.
Most Yin Yoga teacher trainings focus on poses, theory, and long holds — but very few teach you how to work with the nervous system, sensation, and embodied awareness in a truly integrated way.
This training is rooted in a somatic, trauma-informed approach to Yin Yoga. That means you won’t just learn what to teach — you’ll learn how to be present in the room, how to read subtle signals in yourself and others, and how to guide stillness in a way that feels safe, grounded, and deeply supportive.
Throughout the training, you’ll explore:
How to track sensation, breath, and nervous system response
How to use Yin postures as doorways into embodied meditation
How to create environments that support safety and self-regulation
How to teach from felt experience rather than scripts
This is the Yin that many students describe as “finally landing in my body” — the quiet, spacious, deeply nourishing practice that supports both healing and sustainable teaching.
This 50-hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training runs across three in-person Saturdays at Bija Yoga, supported by live online learning and guided self-study.
In-person weekends:
• Saturday 4 April 2026
• Saturday 18 April 2026
